North Cove is worth the trip! We’re dredged by the Federal Government to accommodate boats with 6’ draft. We strongly recommend all boats navigate within the confines of the mooring field - mud flats with an average depth of 2-3 feet exist outside the field. The cove is protected from wind and seas from all directions.
Dockspace
There are only private docks on North Cove. NCYC dock space is time-limited to just 30 minutes of active loading at all times for members only. There are no overnighting privileges, even for members.
Transient Moorings
Any mooring with a yellow streamer can be picked up by transients for 72 hours (or the mooring owner returns) for free. The Town of Old Saybrook operates 4 town moorings for transients tabled “Guest 72 hrs” at the western edge of the cove, nearest the Town Dock. These are available on a first come, first served basis. They cannot be reserved.
Can I Reserve a Mooring?
No. North Cove is a federal safe harbor - any mooring with a yellow streamer is free for 72 hours or until its owner returns.
