Rank Cirteria

Each session every student earns a rank. These ranks in order from most basic to most advanced are as follows:

• crew I
• crew II
• mate I
• mate II
• skipper I
• skipper II
• captain

Most beginners receive either crew I, crew II, or mate I, while the intermediates receive the higher ranks.

Each student has a hard copy of the rank criteria stapled inside the back cover of their Start Sailing Right Book.

Throughout the session instructors highlight the skills that each student has demonstrated. On the rank sheet the criteria for a specific category is separated by a double slash into the different requirements for each rank.
